About the Artist
Stockman began carving as a teenager, inspired by nature, his father’s small woodworks, and a formative trip to Alaska at 16. Later, while serving in the Army at Ft. Richardson near Anchorage, he honed his skills in ivory carving. Today, he works from his “cozy little shop” in the Ossipee Mountains, where he creates intricate pieces in wood, antler, and ivory.
A lifelong naturalist, Stockman is attentive to ethical considerations around ivory use. His works often reflect the material’s origin—for example, transforming moose antler into carvings that evoke the northern wilderness.
Recognition
Though long admired locally, Stockman’s reach expanded with the internet. His “Stockman Original” YouTube channel and Facebook presence have brought him international acclaim and a global clientele.
Admission
The exhibit, reception, and demonstration are free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.
